How to create more orders for your customized offerings

Are you already managing to increase the number of orders you receive per day? Or are you seeing a steady decline? Frustrating. You’re not alone. Especially now – during the second lockdown – there’s a lot of supply and prices are low. How can you still stand out, and what profit remains when you subtract the actual costs from that revenue?

It’s a waiting game until the hospitality industry can open again, but until then, I have 5 tips to inspire you.

TIP 1: Check where you can communicate your offerings online and offline

Take a good look at where your guest is located and make sure those are the regular spots where you consistently show your offerings several times a week. Really stick to structurally posting and showing what you have to offer, because that’s the only way to get better visibility with your potential guest. In most cases, someone needs to see a message from you 6 to 13 times before they finally take the step to place an order.

Tip 2: A good story, focused on the needs of the customer

Make sure you don’t just tell what you have, but really focus on the guest’s needs. Immediately show what simple steps they need to take to order and really invite them to place an order. It might feel a bit pushy to you, but for the guest, it provides the clarity they need, and you’re offering them an invitation to take action right away.

Tip 3: Tip 4: Couple a strong promotion to further entice the guest

A promotion where you give something away for free, for example, helps to entice the guest to actually place an order. It can be just the thing that makes them order from you and not somewhere else. A promotion is good if it fits your potential guest and offers a lot of value while remaining low in cost on the backend. Make sure you can be flexible in your offerings, so don’t be too specific in what you offer. Better to offer „a free drink” than specifically choosing a free bottle of wine or something. This way, you have something for everyone.

Tip 4: A clear menu, easy to read, not too complicated

Make sure your menu is clearly readable. I often come across posts where this is unfortunately not the case, and I almost need to take out my magnifying glass. Keep your menu simple and possibly link to a more extensive menu, so you give the guest a preview in the post. You can also highlight just one dish and do this in a series for each dish one after another. If you then highlight a dish every day, you keep yourself visible to your guest.

Tip 5: Attractive images

The photo or image is crucial to ensure that the guest’s attention lingers. So it’s important that you make it a real eye-catcher. Make sure there’s as much „white light” as possible so that the colors of your dish stand out nicely. Sometimes it helps to use a white piece of cardboard or foam (e.g., from a cooler) as a counter-reflection when taking the photo. Make sure you have a nice background, never choose stainless steel or similar, but always go for a light background. This will quickly make your photo a lot better.

With an app like Afterlight, you can often enhance your photo just a bit more, but do it subtly. Canva is also a nice little program, with which you can add text and other elements to your photo, making it a beautiful post.
