100% BELGIAN CHARCUTERIE & BEER

Carrefour presents an exclusive range of charcuterie ‘The Belgians’. Their promotion reads as follows: „With drinks, as an appetizer or in a gratin: choose the authentic flavors of charcuterie that’s the result of local expertise”. We tasted the charcuterie and paired each variety with a Belgian beer.

Recipes of yesteryear!

Gaume pâté PGI is actually a pâté with leavened dough, marinated in white wine, typical of the cuisine in the Gaume region. Perfect as an appetizer, and equally delicious served cold or warm. We pair this delicacy with La Rulles Blonde. This is beer from… the Gaume.

Chimay pâté is inspired by old regional recipes, adapted to contemporary taste. It demonstrates the expertise of our artisanal producers and is made in the heart of the Chimay region using pork that’s first roasted in the oven. Noblesse oblige, we go all out with a Chimay Rouge.

The taste of a region!

Ardennes ham PGI is made according to a traditional method: slow smoking with beech and oak chips, drying and long aging to achieve an extremely refined taste. A smooth yet complex Dubbel pairs excellently with this. Look no further and open a Westmalle Dubbel.

Bruges ham is made in Maldegem and is based on an old Flemish recipe. The secret? Belgian pork, time, and the brine with spices that enhances the natural, refined aroma. Do regional products always pair well together? Of course not, but in this specific case, a Bruges Zot Brown from the Bruges Brewery De Halve Maan pairs excellently.

Delicious tradition!

The Ardennes ring sausage PGI is a string of dry sausages made from 100% lean pork following an authentic recipe, without colorings or gluten. A classic for your aperitif platter. Keep it simple and open an Orval.

The Ardennes Sausage PGI, that’s all the skill of our Ardennes sausage makers combined: the selection of top ingredients, slowly smoked with beechwood, long aged and with that typical smoked character enhanced by spices. A subtly smoked Cornet Smoked does the sausage justice.

PGI: The designation PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) links a product to its region of origin. This ensures you’ve chosen an authentic product, made with protected and recognized expertise. In Dutch, it’s called BGA or ‘Beschermde Geografische Aanduiding’.
